The Creative Business Professional

Oath of the Creative Professional

Are You a Creative Business Professional?

Are you a musician or songwriter? A filmmaker or screenwriter? An author or poet? Artist, photographer, etc…? Unless you consider your art nothing more than a hobby to pass the time away the answer is yes!

If you want to make money and possibly a sustainable income from your creativity then you are a Creative BUSINESS Professional. Well, right now you’re probably just a creative who would like to learn how to build a sustainable living by means of your creativity.

You have two paths to choose from but either way, you should lose the “build it and they will come” attitude.

Oath of the Creative Business Professional

I am a creative business professional. This is my livelihood.

Finding my “why?” allows me to express my vision.

I have developed a solid yet adaptable plan with S.M.A.R.T. goals.

I will continue to hone my skills while keeping an open mind.

I utilize self-assessment, self-investment, and self-promotion.

I am my own brand, carving a niche and rising above the generic clutter.

From creation to development to end user I will seek detailed critique.

Other independent creative professionals are my colleagues.

I understand that fans / customers are my life’s blood.

I am actively involved in my business as well as in my local community.

I am surrounded by positive, honest, proactive team members.

My network was built by learning from and helping others.

I am a creative business professional. I have paid it forward.

Please share the above “Business Development in Verse Form” with your colleagues. I will expand upon each line over the coming weeks. Don’t hesitate post questions and/or thoughts in the comment section below.
